Will's take
The friendliest way into CNC I’ve seen. Get the Pro if you can.
The Z1 is clearly aimed at people who’ve never touched a CNC: a built-in camera, automatic probing, one-click CAM, and a lid that keeps the mess in. The cast one-piece frame is a smart choice at this size.
The base Z1 runs lead screws and is slow at 1,200 mm/min. For $400 more the Pro gets ball screws and closed-loop motors, and that’s the one I’d buy. Either way it’s a small 8 × 8 inch machine with a 150 W spindle, so think of it as a precise maker tool, not a workshop.
